Description
The Tatuaje 20th Anniversary Grand Chasseur was released to mark two decades since Pete Johnson founded Tatuaje — one of the most respected names in modern boutique cigars.
Construction & Origin
This 6⅜ x 54 toro pairs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with dual Nicaraguan binders and Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco, hand-rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí under the García family’s direction. It’s part of an ongoing celebration line released alongside a second vitola, the Grande Merveille, both marking the 20-year partnership between Johnson and José “Pepín” García — one of the most fruitful collaborations in the modern cigar industry. The band itself is noticeably different from Tatuaje’s usual look, designed specifically for this anniversary release.
Flavor Profile
Medium to full-bodied, the Grand Chasseur opens with white pepper and sweet corn sweetness, developing into wood, creaminess, and a bright, lively Habano character that carries through the smoke. Reviewers note excellent construction — clean seam lines, well-built heads, and a consistent burn — along with a distinctive foot aroma of leaves and light creaminess before the cigar is even lit.
Why It’s Sought After
Tatuaje built its reputation on Cuban-inspired construction and a genuine partnership with the García family, and this anniversary release is a direct tribute to that two-decade relationship. As part of Tatuaje’s continuous 20th Anniversary production line, it remains available longer than the brand’s typical limited runs — making it a reliable way to experience a milestone blend without racing against scarcity.
