The Rocky Patel DBS Toro is a 6 1/2 x 52 toro with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a binder of Nicaraguan leaf and Pennsylvania broadleaf, and filler from Honduras and Nicaragua. DBS stands for “Double Broadleaf Selection,” for the two broadleaf tobaccos inside the blend. It is rolled in Nicaragua at Tabacalera Villa Cuba (TAVICUSA).
What It Tastes Like
In its October 2023 issue, Cigar Aficionado scored the DBS Toro 90 points and rated it medium-full. Its panel picked up toast and leather, a sweetness like a ginger-molasses cookie, plus cocoa and raisin, ending on cedar.
halfwheel also scored it 90 (its review is undated). Its reviewer noted wood, black pepper and earth early, a creaminess that later leaned toward vanilla, and a chili-flake bite on the exhale, but could not clearly pick out the broadleaf.
