Description
The Platinum Nova Batch Robusto Nicaragua is a 5 x 54 robusto with a Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, as halfwheel and Cigar Coop reported when it was introduced at the 2022 PCA trade show.
What It Tastes Like
We found no dated independent review of this robusto, so no score or borrowed tasting notes appear here. The closest guidance is Cigar Journal’s April 2024 report on the 6 x 54 Batch Toro Nicaragua, which called that cigar the brand’s first step toward a heavier, more peppery profile.
Who It’s For
- Nicaraguan puro fans who want wrapper, binder and filler from one country.
- Smokers with less time who prefer a 5-inch robusto to a toro.
- Platinum Nova regulars curious how the Nicaraguan Batch differs from the Dominican one.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- All-Nicaraguan leaf, Jalapa wrapper included (halfwheel, Cigar Coop)
- Rolled at Barrera Cigars in EstelÃ, Nicaragua, according to halfwheel
- Same blend as the toro that Cigar Journal (April 2024) called fuller and spicier than the brand’s earlier cigars
Cons
- No independent review or score of the robusto that we could locate
- The peppery character reported for the toro may not suit mellow-cigar fans
About the Batch Nicaragua
Cigar Journal dates Platinum Nova’s debut to 2019 and identifies Leonor Abzaradel as its chief executive. The first Batch release, reviewed by Stogie Press in December 2019, used Dominican binder and filler and already offered a 5 x 54 robusto. The Nicaragua edition swaps in Nicaraguan leaf; halfwheel reported a Toro joining it at PCA 2024.

Platinum Nova Batch Robusto Nicaragua FAQ
How strong is the Platinum Nova Batch Robusto Nicaragua?
Our listing rates it medium-full; halfwheel relayed a full-bodied description of the blend, and Neptune lists it as medium to full. We found no independent review of the robusto itself; in April 2024 Cigar Journal presented the toro version as the brand’s first spicier, heavier-bodied blend.
What size is the Batch Robusto Nicaragua?
It is 5 inches by a 54 ring gauge, per halfwheel and Cigar Coop. In 2024 the blend gained a 6 x 54 Toro, which halfwheel said joined the existing robusto.
Is it the same blend as the original Platinum Nova Batch?
No. The first Batch cigars, reviewed by Stogie Press in December 2019, paired an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper with Dominican binder and filler. This version uses Nicaraguan tobacco in all three layers, per halfwheel.
Our Platinum Nova brand page gathers the other Batch sizes alongside the rest of the line we stock.
