Description
The Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne Epicure is a 6 x 54 toro-size cigar with a light Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler. Perdomo markets it as the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne and says its tobaccos are aged at least six years.
What It Tastes Like
Perdomo credits the butterscotch-colored wrapper with cream and honey sweetness, and the Nicaraguan leaves with spice and a hint of oak. JR Cigar’s Blending Room write-up on the line (December 2019) listed toasted almond, cedar, leather, spice and coffee. Cigar Aficionado has reviewed the Torpedo size, but we found no rating for the Epicure.
Who It’s For
- Connecticut-wrapper fans who want a thick 54-ring smoke that stays gentle.
- Newer smokers moving up from a robusto without adding much strength.
- Daytime smokers after a creamy toro.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Perdomo says every leaf in the blend gets at least six years of aging
- Perdomo farms its own Nicaraguan leaf for the binder and filler, per halfwheel
- Shares its size with the Sun Grown Epicure, making a side-by-side easy
Cons
- No published Cigar Aficionado score for this size
- Likely too mellow for smokers who prefer full-bodied Nicaraguan blends
About the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne
JR Cigar presents the series as marking ten years of Perdomo’s Reserve line and as a modern take on Nick Perdomo’s original La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve. Perdomo says the Champagne is where it first began aging wrapper tobacco in bourbon barrels, and its page for the line cites a 2018 Best Brand of Nicaragua award from Cigar Journal.
Pairing and Storage
Being on the mellow side, it fits the lighter picks in our cigar pairing guide: champagne, a light lager or white rum.
