The Padr?n family has created quite the tradition by coming out with a new Padr?n Family Reserve every year to commemorate the company’s history. The Padr?n Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro was our 2009 Cigar of the Year?this is the natural version of that very same cigar. It has the same dimensions and suggested retail price, but the lighter wrapper gives the cigar a different flavor. While the considerable kick of the maduro is informed by hearty, resonant coffee, cocoa and spice flavors that saturate the palate, the natural is a bit more mellow, with flavors of cocoa bean and earth on the palate. The cigar is quite balanced and exceptionally flavorful. It’s impossible to exaggerate how well the Padr?n family has done in our Top 25?three times the company has had a Cigar of the Year, and the Padr?ns have never failed to have a cigar in our top five. It’s an impressive show of consistency that no other company can claim.

Description
The Padrón Family Reserve No. 45 Natural is the Natural-wrapped counterpart to the Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro, which was named Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year in 2009 — making this a rare chance to try that same award-winning blend under a lighter wrapper leaf.
Construction & Origin
This box-pressed cigar is a Nicaraguan puro, wrapped in a Nicaraguan Natural leaf over Nicaraguan binder and filler, hand-rolled at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Estelí. The Family Reserve line was created to showcase Padrón’s oldest and rarest tobacco reserves, some aged a decade or more, and is released in far smaller batches than the rest of the catalog. It shares the same dimensions and blend structure as the celebrated No. 45 Maduro, giving it the same pedigree in a different wrapper.
Flavor Profile
Full-bodied yet remarkably smooth, the No. 45 Natural delivers cedar, roasted nuts, a light cream sweetness, and a refined black pepper spice, with the extended aging softening any harshness and giving the smoke a rounded, polished character from start to finish. It’s a brighter, more nuanced profile than its Maduro sibling, while still carrying the same underlying depth.
Why It’s Sought After
Sharing its blueprint with a genuine Cigar of the Year winner gives the No. 45 Natural instant credibility among collectors, and a Natural wrapper in the Family Reserve line is a real rarity that’s specifically sought out by fans who want to compare it directly against the Maduro original. Limited production and the sheer rarity of tobacco this well-aged make it a true special-occasion smoke.
