Description
The Padrón 80th Anniversary Maduro holds a genuine first in company history — it was the very first perfecto Padrón ever produced, released to commemorate José O. Padrón’s 80th birthday.
Construction & Origin
Part of the celebrated Serie 1926 line, the 80 Years carries a dual band — the standard 1926 identifier plus a second band naming this specific release. At 6¾ x 54, it’s a sharp, box-pressed perfecto finished in a licorice-black Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper over vintage Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobacco, sourced from some of the company’s oldest inventory. Production is genuinely limited to 40,000 units annually and hand-assembled by just one dedicated buncher and one roller, capped at 300 cigars per day — sold in boxes of eight in either Natural or Maduro.
Flavor Profile
Full-bodied with real depth, this cigar opens with marshmallow-like sweetness and cocoa on the cold draw, developing into coffee, warm chocolate, nuts, cedar, and leather through a long, smooth smoke. Reviewers consistently praise its razor-sharp burn and describe it as landing in “the higher echelon of all things cigar” — one of Padrón’s most complex, elegant offerings, powerful enough to notice but never harsh.
Why It’s Sought After
As Padrón’s first-ever perfecto and a genuine tribute to company patriarch José O. Padrón, this release carries real historical weight beyond just its taste — and with strictly limited daily production, it’s never been an easy cigar to keep in stock. For collectors, it remains one of the most respected, special-occasion releases in Padrón’s entire catalog.
