Description
The Knuckle Sandwich Connecticut Robusto is the Connecticut blend’s 5 x 52 Robusto J, made with a light Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf wrapped around binder and filler grown in Nicaragua. A.J. Fernandez rolls it for Espinosa Premium Cigars at his San Lotano factory in Ocotal.
What It Tastes Like
In its April 18, 2023 edition, Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar Insider newsletter gave this robusto 89 points and a mild-medium strength rating. The tasters saw a golden wrapper marked by a few raised veins, and found an easy, smoky draw carrying soft vanilla, almond and milk chocolate. The finish ran sweet, like butterscotch, with a faint thread of cinnamon.
Who It’s For
- Connecticut-shade fans who want a lighter wrapper than the Habano or Maduro Knuckle Sandwich blends.
- Anyone short on time who prefers a 5-inch cigar over the 6-inch Toro or the 6 1/2-inch Short Churchill.
- Coffee drinkers, since Espinosa suggests the blend with a morning cup as well as an evening cocktail.
