The Gurkha Nicaragua Series Magnum is a 6 x 60 Nicaraguan puro that pairs a Corojo 99 wrapper and binder with a filler of Corojo 99 and Criollo 98, all grown by Aganorsa. Of the four sizes Gurkha announced for the Nicaragua Series in 2019, it has the widest ring gauge.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Aficionado scored the Magnum 88 points in February 2021 and judged it medium in strength. The tasting panel found an uncomplicated profile of wood, vanilla and walnut touched with spice and said it drew and burned evenly even though the wrapper looks dark and oily on such a thick cigar. Reviewing the 6 x 54 Toro instead, halfwheel saw strength climb from medium to full, with chocolate, leather and nuts up front and a white pepper note that grew stronger late in the smoke.

About the Nicaragua Series
Gurkha’s October 2019 announcement says the Nicaragua Series was released at that year’s IPCPR show and credits Aganorsa Leaf with production. Cigar Aficionado reported that the line was Gurkha’s first cigar made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco and its first collaboration with the Aganorsa Leaf factory.
