The Gurkha 35th Anniversary Toro is a 6 x 54 parejo rolled by Tabacalera El Artista, a Dominican factory, using Ecuadorian habano wrapper over Indonesian binder and EstelÃ-grown criollo ’98 filler. Of the anniversary blend’s three shapes, it is the only straight-sided one and has the widest ring.
What It Tastes Like
Gurkha describes the blend as medium-bodied and refined, with earth and nuts and a cool, lingering finish. Aaron Loomis of Developing Palates reviewed this exact size on March 1, 2024, rating it mild-medium to just under medium. He found toasted cedar, earth and brief black pepper early, then floral hints and mustiness, with chalk arriving late. He judged the flavor average, with cedar leading throughout.

About the Anniversary Blend
Per halfwheel, Gurkha built it to celebrate Kaizad Hansotia’s 1989 purchase of the company. It was unveiled at the July 2023 PCA trade show, first packed in a glossy red humidor, and halfwheel later reported that it is part of Gurkha’s standard lineup, now also in 10-count boxes.
