GTO Doble Capa Torpedo Box Press

Description

The GTO Doble Capa Torpedo Box Press is a 6 x 50 Dominican-made cigar built around a genuinely double-wrapped construction — Connecticut and Maduro leaf together — rather than a single wrapper leaf.

About GTO Cigars

GTO takes its name from “Gran Turismo Omologata,” inspired by classic GT-badged cars like the Ferrari and Pontiac GTO. The brand is built by Dr. Oscar Rodriguez, known in the industry as “Big-O,” and produced by Tabacalera GTO Dominicana in the Dominican Republic. GTO’s blends span mild to full body across Maduro, Connecticut Shade, and Corojo wrapper options.

Flavor Profile

Mild-to-medium in body. This Doble Capa (“double cap”) construction pairs Dominican Connecticut and Dominican Maduro wrapper leaf on the same cigar, a barber-pole-style technique used to add complexity and visual interest beyond what a single wrapper leaf provides. Reviews of GTO’s Doble Capa Torpedo have noted cedar, cream, warm spice, and cashew notes.

What Makes It Different

“Doble Capa” is a genuine construction difference, not a marketing term: two distinct wrapper leaves are applied to the same cigar rather than one. That gives it a visibly striped appearance and a flavor profile that shifts as you draw from different wrapper sections — a different experience from a standard single-wrapper cigar at a similar price point.

Who Is This Cigar Best Suited For?

Smokers who want an easy-going, mild-to-medium smoke with visual and flavor variety built in, and who are curious about barber-pole/double-wrapper construction without paying a premium price for it.
