“Sophisticated Hooker” refers to a fishing boat Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. remembers fondly from a Cigar Family Charitable Foundation fundraiser in Key West — “hooker” being an old term for a fishing boat, named for all the hooks aboard. The memory stuck with him, and years later he brought the name back for this cigar. It’s the largest vitola in the Rare Pink line — a figurado series conceived by Carlito’s daughter, Liana Fuente, after she lost both her grandmother and aunt to breast cancer. A portion of every box sold goes directly to The American Cancer Society and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the pink-accented bands and boxes are a deliberate nod to breast cancer awareness. This Sophisticated Hooker measures 7¼” x 53, handcrafted at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic, using an oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Dominican binder, with aged Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos beneath.
