Description
The Black Works Studio The Five Temples Killer Bee Connecticut Broadleaf pairs a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper with a Honduran habano binder and Nicaraguan filler in a 5 x 54 pyramid. Oveja Negra Brands produces it at Fabrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua, for its seven-blend Five Temples – Seven Star Fist of Shaolin assortment.
What It Tastes Like
We have not found an independent tasting of this broadleaf pyramid, and Oveja Negra’s October 2025 announcement names no flavors. As loose background, Cigar Coop’s May 25, 2016 review of the original maduro-wrapped 4 1/2 x 46 Killer Bee found cocoa and wood alternating early until wood took over, with strength building from medium to medium-full. This blend differs, so treat that only as a hint.
Who It’s For
- Longtime Killer Bee smokers curious how broadleaf alters a familiar name.
- Fans of broadleaf wrappers who like that leaf on a stout pyramid.
- Side-by-side tasters comparing it with the Sumatra and Connecticut Killer Bee pyramids.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Rolled at Oveja Negra’s own Estelí factory, per Cigar Journal
- A thick 54 ring with a tapered head on a compact five-inch body
- A pyramid size that James Brown, in the maker’s release, says he has rolled for himself for about 12 years
Cons
- No independent review or dated score yet
- The binder and filler are published only at the collection level
