Description
The Rocky Patel The Edge Habano Toro is a Nicaraguan-made 6 x 52 toro in The Edge Habano line, its binder and filler grown in Estelí, Condega and Jalapa. Rocky Patel notes that every other Edge variety is rolled in Honduras.
What It Tastes Like
halfwheel reviewed a 2012 prerelease sample of this toro and found leather throughout with milk chocolate, coffee and toast early, then cedar, earth and light pepper, moving from mild-medium to medium. Cigar Coop (November 2012) called the Toro the milder size, at medium strength. The Torpedo, a different shape, scored 94 and placed seventh in Cigar Aficionado’s 2015 Top 25, labelled full (January 2016 issue).
Who It’s For
- Nicaragua fans who want the one Edge blend not made in Honduras.
- Newer smokers, since Cigar Coop steered novices toward the Toro rather than the Torpedo.
- Side-by-side tasters comparing Edge toros by wrapper.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- The first all-Nicaraguan Edge blend, per halfwheel and Cigar Coop
- halfwheel found the burn stayed almost perfectly even on this toro

- The only full review of this size we found used a 2012 prerelease sample
- Rocky Patel and reviewers disagree on where the wrapper is grown
