Description

The West Tampa Red Gigante is the 6 x 60 size of West Tampa Tobacco Co.’s Red line, a Mexican San Andrés wrapper around Nicaraguan binder and filler, rolled by Garmendia Cigars Co. in Nicaragua.

What It Tastes Like

We found no independent review of the Gigante itself, so these notes come from the 6 x 52 Red Toro. halfwheel kept tasting charred oak and dark chocolate up front, with coffee, cinnamon and leather beneath, as strength climbed from medium to nearly full. Cigar Coop scored that Toro 87 on January 21, 2024, noting damp earth with cocoa, berry and wood.

Who It’s For

  • Big-ring smokers who want the Red blend in its widest format.
  • San Andrés wrapper fans curious about it over Nicaraguan tobacco.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The Robusto size placed No. 25 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 of 2023 (93 points); CA’s June 2026 rating of it was 88
  • One of the Red’s three launch sizes

Cons

  • No outlet has reviewed this exact size yet, as far as we could find
  • A 60 ring is a handful if you prefer slimmer shapes

About the Red Blend

Cigar Aficionado says West Tampa meant Red to be its strongest blend. According to halfwheel, its San Andrés wrapper first appeared on the company’s debut Attic Series cigar, though its Nicaraguan binder and filler are different varietals from that release.
