Description
The Sancho Panza Limited Edition Toro is a 6 x 52 cigar with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan filler. General Cigar released this one-size blend in September 2023 and had it made at Oliva’s factory in Nicaragua.
What It Tastes Like
We found no independent review or score for this cigar, so we are not quoting tasting notes. General Cigar’s launch announcement, as reported by halfwheel and Stogie Press in September 2023, called it a medium-bodied smoke with some spice.
Who It’s For
- Habano wrapper fans who like an Ecuadorian leaf over Nicaraguan filler.
- Oliva followers who want to try a blend from that factory under a different label.
- Sancho Panza smokers comparing the Nicaraguan-made edition with the brand’s Honduran and Dominican cigars.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Filler drawn from three Nicaraguan growing regions: Condega, Estelà and Somoto
- Blended by Matt Booth and Justin Andrews together with Oliva’s team
Cons
- No published independent review to set expectations
- The maker described its body, not its strength, so strength is less certain
About the Sancho Panza Limited Edition
General Cigar overhauled Sancho Panza in 2022, when Booth and Andrews reworked the blends with the HATSA factory in Honduras, according to Cigar Coop. This edition followed a year later and, as Blind Man’s Puff noted, was made by Oliva instead of HATSA, the factory behind the regular line; halfwheel named Forged Cigar Co. as its distributor.
Pairing and Storage
Since it is pitched as medium-bodied, a bourbon, a Rioja or an espresso would fit the middle tier in our cigar pairing guide.
