About La Flor Dominicana

La Flor Dominicana was founded in 1996 by Litto Gomez, a former jeweler, and his wife Ines Lorenzo-Gomez. The company operates its own factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic, and Gomez later acquired farmland to grow his own tobacco — a hallmark of LFD’s boutique, hands-on approach. The brand is known for bold, often box-pressed cigars with a devoted following.

The “TCFKA” Story

TCFKA stands for “The Cigar Formerly Known As” — a nod to Prince’s 1990s name change. LFD renamed its “Mysterio” line to “TCFKA ‘M'” after a trademark dispute filed by another company over the original name. The blend itself was reportedly unchanged; only the name on the band and box was affected.

This Oscuro version is medium-bodied, dressed in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Dominican binder and filler — a full Dominican puro. Earlier reviews of the Mysterio Oscuro (before the rename) described a dark, oily wrapper with notes of pepper, oak, espresso, and roasted nuts finishing dry and cedary.
