Description
The Davidoff Yamasa Robusto Tubo is a 5 x 50 robusto in its own tube, with wrapper and binder from Davidoff’s Yamasá farms in the Dominican Republic over Nicaraguan and Dominican filler.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Coop’s February 2019 review of this tubed size scored it 92 points and rated both its strength and body medium. Cocoa and a lemony edge open the smoke; later the citrus fades as oak and cedar move forward, backed by black pepper, without turning overly woody.
Who It’s For
- Golfers and travelers who want a robusto that rides safely in a pocket or bag.
- Curious Davidoff smokers ready to try the brand’s Yamasá-grown wrapper.
- Smokers who prefer a robusto to a long Churchill.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- 92 points from Cigar Coop (February 2019) for this exact tubed size
- The tube guards the wrapper against knocks on the go
Cons
- Strength ratings vary from medium to full depending on the reviewer
- A tube is not a humidor, so it still needs proper storage between smokes
About the Yamasá Line
Halfwheel reports Davidoff spent some twenty years growing tobacco in Yamasá, a central Dominican region roughly 20 miles from Santo Domingo, raising the soil’s pH by hand, one plant at a time, before the blend debuted at the 2016 IPCPR show.
Pairing and Storage
Out of the tube it needs a humidor like any premium cigar (see our humidor basics guide). Because reviewers place its strength anywhere from medium to full, our cigar pairing guide offers both routes: bourbon or espresso if it smokes medium for you, aged rum if it comes across fuller.

Davidoff Yamasa Robusto Tubo FAQ
How strong is the Davidoff Yamasa Robusto Tubo?
Sources differ: Cigar Coop rated the tubed version medium in February 2019, JR Cigar lists it as medium to full, Holt’s lists the Yamasá line as medium, and Cigar Insider rated the untubed Robusto full in September 2016. Our product listing shows Full, the top of that range.
Is the Robusto Tubo a different blend from the regular Yamasa Robusto?
No. Both are 5 x 50 with the same listed blend; the Tubo just comes in a protective tube.
What tobacco goes into this cigar?
The wrapper is grown in Yamasá, the binder is San Vicente leaf from Yamasá, and the filler mixes Condega and Estelí leaf from Nicaragua with Dominican Piloto and Mejorado.
When did the tubed Yamasa Robusto come out?
Cigar Coop reported in October 2018 that Davidoff was adding the Robusto Tubo, two years after the Yamasá line debuted at the 2016 IPCPR trade show.
