Description

The Davidoff Millennium Short Robusto is a stubby 4 1/4 x 52 cigar with an Ecuadorian wrapper around a Dominican binder and filler, part of Davidoff’s Millennium Blend Series. Oettinger Davidoff, the brand’s maker, positions it as a quicker, punchier alternative to the regular Robusto.

What It Tastes Like

We found three Cigar Aficionado ratings for this exact vitola, each listing it as medium in strength. The high point was 91 points in February 2013: mild earth and coffee bean topped by oak and white wine, and it drew and burned perfectly. June 2010 brought 86 points for cedar and wood ending on semi-sweet nougat. December 2016 was the low, 82 points, for mustiness that soured and turned bitter.

Who It’s For

  • Short-break smokers who want a Davidoff that fits a lunch hour.
  • Fans of thick, short formats who like a wide 52 ring in a compact length.
  • Millennium Robusto smokers curious how the blend changes in a shorter frame.

About the Millennium Blend

Cigar Coop’s 2011 review credits the blend to Henkie Kelner and places it in Davidoff’s white-label range. Oettinger Davidoff’s trade site lists aged Piloto, San Vicente and Olor tobaccos beneath the Ecuadorian leaf.

Pairing and Storage

Oettinger Davidoff suggests coffee, a rum with coffee or chocolate tones, or a gentle sherry-cask whisky alongside the Millennium blend. See our cigar pairing guide for more.

Davidoff Millennium Short Robusto FAQ

How strong is the Davidoff Millennium Short Robusto?

Medium, by most accounts: Cigar Aficionado rated it medium in 2010, 2013 and 2016, and Holt’s lists the blend as medium. Cigar Coop’s 2011 review of the Millennium Churchill went higher, at medium to full.

What size is the Millennium Short Robusto?

4 1/4 x 52, per Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Coop: a full inch shorter than the 5 1/4 x 50 Millennium Robusto.

What wrapper does the Short Robusto use?

An Ecuadorian leaf that Cigar Coop calls sun-grown and halfwheel calls a hybrid, over Dominican binder and filler.

Is it the same blend as the Millennium Robusto?

It shares the series’ Ecuadorian wrapper and Dominican interior, though Oettinger Davidoff’s trade site says the Robusto gets a bit more Piloto tobacco for a bolder profile.

Its longer Millennium siblings are on our Davidoff cigars page.
