Description
The Ashton Aged Maduro No. 10 is a 5 x 50 robusto, the shortest of eight Aged Maduro sizes Ashton lists, rolling Dominican binder and filler inside a dark Connecticut broadleaf leaf.
What It Tastes Like
Ashton’s tasting notes for the blend name dark chocolate, almond, maple, molasses and black pepper. Neptune Cigar reports an early sweetness from the wrapper giving way to nuts and cream. For this exact size, the one Cigar Aficionado score we could confirm is dated: 86 points in December 2001, citing wood and agreeable spice in flavors its tasters felt were not fully balanced. Newer Cigar Aficionado scores on Ashton’s site don’t name the size rated, so we skip them.
Who It’s For
- Newcomers to maduro after a broadleaf cigar Ashton rates on the lighter side.
- Robusto fans who want the Aged Maduro tobacco in its shortest size.
- Coffee drinkers, since Ashton itself suggests coffee alongside this blend.

- The only Cigar Aficionado score for this size we found is 86, from 2001

- Probably too soft for smokers who want a full-strength maduro
About the Aged Maduro
Speaking to Cigar Aficionado in 2003, founder Robert Levin recalled that the Aged Maduro arrived after his Cabinet Selection line and was produced by the Fuentes. Holt’s credits Carlito Fuente with the blend and says its broadleaf wrapper ferments for as long as three years.
Pairing and Storage
Ashton suggests coffee, rum, cognac or dessert with this blend; the espresso our cigar pairing guide recommends for medium cigars fits right in.
