Description
The Angelenos Robusto Gordo 54 is a 5 1/2 x 54 robusto with an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper around a Dominican binder and Dominican filler. Prometheus, the company behind God of Fire, has it rolled in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia.
What It Tastes Like
No dated, independent review of this exact size surfaced; the nearest is halfwheel’s review of the 6 x 50 Angelenos Toro, which uses the same blend: white pepper and earth up front, then cedar with a nutty, peanut-butter-like richness, later a salty mineral streak and coffee, and honey sweetness on the retrohale. Strength climbed from mild-medium to medium; the reviewer called it creamy and approachable, if not especially complex.
Who It’s For
- Connecticut-wrapper smokers who want a lighter leaf on a thicker 54 ring.
- Fans of Fuente-rolled cigars curious about a brand from Prometheus.
- Anyone wanting an easygoing robusto for a relaxed hour.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia, per halfwheel
- Generous 54 ring gauge on a 5 1/2-inch body
Cons
- Published reviews cover other Angelenos cigars, not this one
- Probably too gentle for smokers who want a full-bodied cigar
About the Angelenos Line
According to halfwheel, Prometheus launched Angelenos as a salute to Los Angeles in late 2009 with a single 6 1/2 x 44 Lonsdale blended by Carlos Fuente Sr. After being dropped in 2016, the Toro and Gran Toro 54 returned in 2026 to sit beside this cigar, the Robusto and the Double Robusto.
Pairing and Storage
Sitting between mild and medium, it suits picks from either list in our cigar pairing guide: a light lager, white rum or a cup of coffee.
