Description
The Room101 Farce Connecticut Robusto combines an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler around a binder the launch reports left undisclosed. Tabacalera William Ventura makes this 5 x 50 in the Dominican Republic as the robusto of Room101’s Farce Connecticut blend.
What It Tastes Like
These notes come from sister sizes. Cigar Aficionado scored the 7 x 48 Churchill 91 points in April 2019, noting plenty of creamy smoke, a nutty, woody core and hints of vanilla, nougat and clove, and 88 points in August 2020, when bitter almond and sweet tea opened up to pepper, caramel, wood and pipe tobacco late in the smoke; both times it rated the cigar mild-medium. halfwheel’s undated review of the 6 x 56 Super Toro picked up creamy almond, leather and cedar, with strength building to just short of medium.
Who It’s For
- Fans of pale Connecticut wrappers wanting the mildest-rated Farce blend.
- Robusto loyalists who find the Churchill too long for one sitting.
- Farce Habano or Maduro regulars curious about a lighter-wrapped sibling.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Cigar Aficionado gave the Churchill of this blend 91 points (April 2019)
Cons
- No dated independent review covers the robusto itself
- Room101’s current listing adds an Indonesian binder and Honduran filler that 2018 coverage did not mention
About the Farce Connecticut
Per halfwheel, Farce was the first Room101 cigar Matt Booth released without a partner after leaving Davidoff in 2017 and returning about six months later. In July 2018 Cigar Coop reported that the Connecticut version, a follow-up to that year’s original Farce, would debut at the IPCPR show; halfwheel gives August 2018 as its release month.
Pairing and Storage
Since Cigar Aficionado twice rated this blend mild-medium, a light lager or a glass of champagne from our drink pairing guide is unlikely to overpower it.
